Statement
We were commissioned to spatially reconfigure a facility dedicated to specific sports activities in the Las Condes district of Santiago, Chile. A task that entailed redefining the various spaces associated with the program.
To this end, we reconfigured the existing spatial layout by removing all internal partitions that were secondary to the main structure. This resulted in an open-plan design that accommodated the arrangement and deployment of all training units, while ensuring the space remained versatile enough to allow for the future redistribution of program areas, specifically the cardio, free-weight, and integrated-weight zones.
Within this open plan layout, we introduced a central element to articulate the various areas; positioned to provide full operational oversight of the facility, this feature takes the form of a unified furniture unit serving as a reception desk, supplement sales point, and café.
Once the spatial concept was established, the final phase focused on expressing a distinct brand identity. This involved a series of decisions regarding surface materials, finishes, furniture, and lighting, ultimately creating a timeless, contemporary atmosphere designed to endure in the long term.
